STATEMENT

Recent painting has meant me exploring further the subject of landscape. Although these are not straightforward landscapes they are turning out to be much more figurative in style than previous work, which is a challenge I am enjoying as they are quite different to paintings I have painted before.

 

These are essentially ‘made-up’ and of no one particular place. One could say eclectic. I like this idea, and feel the layered imagery responds well to that. 

 

What began as me reworking a series of paintings to get my creative juices flowing again has become something else and a window leading to somewhere new seems to be opening up. I am enjoying where they are leading me, and they seem to be a development on previous projects. Hopefully what comes next is better and so on and so forth. I intend to stay loosely with the subject of landscape for the moment, which seems to provide a suitable anchor for the way forward and I feel has the potential to be explored much more.
